For the tenth year, the gallery takes part in BRAFA in Brussels, now held at Brussels Expo. This prestigious fair is always one of the most eagerly awaited events in the European art market. This year, it celebrates its 70th anniversary, and has a number of surprises in store for us, not least the creations of this year's guest of honor, Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos.
The gallery's selection this year is a little different from previous years in that part of our stand will be devoted to the rediscovery of works, on canvas and paper, by Aix artist François Aubrun (1834-2009). Some thirty works never seen before since the painter's death will be unveiled at the market, as a prelude to a major event: “AUBRUN”, to be held next summer at the artist's family estate, in collaboration with the City of Aix-en-Provence as part of the Cézanne Year. Prior to this, some forty of Aubrun's drawings will be shown at the Espace Van Gogh in Arles as part of the 3rd edition of the Festival du Dessin d'Arles.
Alongside these works, which interpret our southern light in a more contemporary and poetic way, we'll be featuring on our stand the artists from the first half of the 20th century who are beloved of the gallery: André Lhote, Alfred Lombard, Henri Matisse, Henri Martin, Moïse Kisling, the Nabi Edouard Vuillard, the great traveler André Maire, the lacquerer Gaston Suisse and the wildlife artist Paul Jouve....
Like a link between these two territories, works on paper by Dora Maar, ceramics by Picasso and paintings by Bernard Buffet will articulate this ephemeral display, which we look forward to presenting to you.
